My name is Alfredo Vernazzani — I am a philosopher working mainly on philosophy of mind & perception, philosophy of cognitive science, epistemology of understanding and rationality, and aesthetics.
I am currently employed at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg.
Previously, I was employed at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum with Prof. Albert Newen, where I served as Managing Director of the MSc in Cognitive Science.
I have held visiting positions at various universities, like the Graduate School of Education, Harvard University with Catherine Elgin; the University of Cambridge as Visiting PhD student, sponsored by Tim Crane; I have been twice at Rutgers's department of philosophy sponsored by Brian McLaughlin and Susanna Schellenberg; and I have been visiting scholar at the Center for Philosophical Psychology with Bence Nanay.
I've been awarded my PhD in Philosophy from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (supervisors: Prof. Tobias Schlicht and Prof. Marcin Milkowski).I have received my MA degree in Philosophy from the Humboldt-Universität, and my BA from the University of Naples «Federico II». Besides philosophy, I have a bunch of other interests, especially Literature and Poetry (including literary criticism), History and Historiography, Art history, Art music and prog rock. I have been politically active as anti-fascist (for the German section of the ANPI).
